Christine Gale Harrison
 
Christine Gale Harrison enjoys a busy and varied career as a violinist and teacher. After studies with Leo Wigdorchik she spent two seasons as a member of the Regina Symphony Orchestra. Returning to the Toronto area, she began performing with orchestras including the Hamilton Philharmonic, Toronto Philharmonia,  Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, and the Canadian Opera Company. She has also been active in Toronto's "Broadway north" theatre scene, playing for "Phantom of the Opera", "Showboat", "Miss Saigon" and many others.
 
Chamber music has always been an important part of Christine's career. She was co-concertmaster of the Resonance Chamber Orchestra, performed with Canada's Amadeus Ensemble, and enjoyed several seasons playing in "Lyra Borealis" under the direction of Paavo Jarvi. She has been fortunate to have had the opportunity to take many summer courses with the Maggini Quartet, both in England and in Norway. Christine is an experienced string quartet player, and has recently returned to Ontario after spending a season in New Brunswick as 2nd violin with the Saint John String Quartet.

In demand as an adjudicator, clinician and coach, Christine holds a Violin Teachers' A.R.C.T. (as well as Piano Performers A.R.C.T.), and has been teaching students from beginner to diploma level for over twenty-five years.  She has a special interest in the adult learner and amateur musician, particularly enjoying coaching at the East London Late Starter's summer school in the UK. She has extensive experience working in community orchestras as professional Concertmaster and Principal Second violin.

Christine is acknowledged internationally as an expert in the field of musicians' injuries. Together with physiotherapist Barbara Paull, she has delivered papers on musicians' injuries at medical conferences as far afield as Hong Kong and Australia. They have presented the "Playing without Pain" workshop to musicians in Canada, the US, Holland and the UK, including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, and the Royal Northern College of Music. She is co-author of the book  The Athletic Musician, and is the Strings' Consultant at the Stouffville Musicians' Injuries Clinic.

Christine is an examiner for the Royal Conservatory of Music, Canada, co-author of  the 2013 RCM Violin Syllabus and co-editor of the 2013 RCM Violin Series books.
